Security Council Members Chosen in UN Vote
The United Nations General Assembly elected Australia Brazil and Poland to two year terms on the Security Council and The Netherlands Egypt and Mexico to one year. The five permanent powers are the United States Britain the Soviet Union France and China. Britain pushed for immediate organization of armed services to enforce peace. The Assembly also elected 17 members to the Economic and Social Council including Chile China Norway the United Kingdom Peru the Soviet Union the United States Canada Lebanon Colombia France India Belgium Czechoslovakia Ukraine Cuba Greece New Zealand and Yugoslavia. A deadlock for the final seat was postponed to Monday.

Anaconda residents Sandra Ann Ferguson four died and Jake Norton 58 died after a two car collision Saturday afternoon at the Opportunity road and Butte Deer Lodge highway intersection. Chicago police report Wilbur Phillips a 45 year old part time janitor at the Degnan apartment building emerged as a key clue in the six year old Suzanne Degnan kidnapping and murder inquiry. Phillips was arrested in Wilmette after a tip from Frank Case of Miami owner of the apartment house nearby. Authorities said Phillips had worked in the neighborhood recently and vanished after the kidnapping Monday night as Suzanne's father James Degnan an OPA official had tucked her into bed before she disappeared.
