Senator Bilbo of Mississippi warned he will open a filibuster against the anti lynching bill saying he may speak for 30 days. He criticized the measure and rallied against its passage as debate heated in Washington.
Grave fears spread tonight for Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo of the Supreme Court after three specialists found no improvement since this morning. The 67 year old jurist, once hailed as a master of the law, was too ill to greet President and Mrs Roosevelt, who left roses at his bedside before returning to the White House.
The Samoan Clipper wreckage was found 14 miles northwest of Pago Pago Samoa confirming a fire as it sank in the Pacific with Captain Edwin C Musick and six others. Pan American Airways President Juan Trippe announced the seven airmen are dead.

Dr H H James a noted Butte and Montana physician was elected potentate of Bagdad temple Order of Mystic Shrine at the annual meeting in the Masonic temple. Offic ers include H R Eichemeyer Great Falls chief rabbon A R Sims assistant rabbon and others. delegates named to Imperial Council sessions.
Coroner testifies that all eight passengers and two pilots died instantly when a Northwest Airlines Lockheed 14 H crash in the Bridger mountains caused belts to snap in the fiery impact. A coroner's jury rules the deaths were due to crash injuries.

Police report a double slaying in Elmont New York as an elderly widow and a 19 year old girl were shot and bound with stockings and bed clothing. The isolated house showed signs of a ransacking and the crime was uncovered overnight.
Senator Bailey of North Carolina charged that Northern Democrats and a so called Socialist wing have taken control of the party and are pressing an anti lynching bill on the South. He warned that catering to Black voters would split the party and vowed the South will defend a white man’s government. He cited the 1932 victory and claimed Socialists seized the party and overturned the two thirds rule for presidential nomination.
Snow whipped into fury with high winds laid siege in Butte delaying traffic and forcing pedestrians to seek shelter. City and county crews worked to clear streets as temperatures rose from eight below to 35 degrees and more snow was forecast.
Weather has paused a $45,000 runway paving project at Butte Municipal Airport funded by the city Silver Bow county and the Works Progress Administration. WPA labor handles the work with local materials. Once finished Butte will boast Montana’s only fully paved airport runways ready for major airline ships.
