McKeithen Triumphs In Louisiana Democratic Runoff

Conservative John J. McKeithen upset S Morrison to win the Democratic gubernatorial runoff in Louisiana. With 1,913 of 2,214 precincts reporting, McKeithen held 420,936 votes to Morrison's 390,249, aided by wins in segregationist northern areas. The outcome, aided by race politics and heavy rainfall, signals a likely governorship as Morrison’s third bid failed.

Summer School for Blind Scheduled June 14 July 17

The Montana Association for the Blind announces its annual summer school for the adult blind in Bozeman from June 14 to July 17. About 25 to 30 attendees participate each year at no cost, aided by a memorial loan fund, white cane drive, and other contributions. The event is funded through private sources and annual sales of calendars.

Smoking Guilty: Blue Ribbon Panel Links Cigarettes to Cancer

E A Harden Whitehall Leader Dies at 77

Edward A. Harden 77 longtime Whitehall justice of the peace town clerk and reformer died Saturday en route to a Butte hospital. He helped develop Whitehall Boy Scouts and served as scoutmaster. Survivors include son E W and step daughter C L Hagedorn six grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home with Masonic rites at White Cemetery.

Tobacco Men Confident on Smoking Report Impact

Great Falls Airman Second 1964 State Highway Fatality

An Air Force staff sergeant was killed in a collision between a missile maintenance van and a Great Northern train near Geyser Montana. Staff Sgt William A Thomas 32 died. three other airmen were injured. The train struck the van at 555 am. The dead man leaves a widow two sons and his mother. Three crew members of Missile Maintenance Squadron 341 were injured.
