Elk Park snowmobiles racing today at Butte international event
Elk Park seven miles north of Butte hosts an international snowmobile meet with about 220 entries. Time trials Friday qualified 25 racers. 9 a.m. start for morning trials and 2 p.m. for powder puff and junior races. Duane Eck of Briggs Idaho led Friday trials in 34.5 seconds on the half mile oval. Eli K of Butte and others followed. Weather was cold with high teens and 25 mph gusts, expected to ease for today’s sessions.

Blast destroys Walkerville home in Friday fire
A fire sparked by an explosion destroyed a house at 17 FE, Lexington in Walkerville. Walkerville and Big Butte volunteer crews battled for two hours, preventing spread. no injuries reported.
