Soviet forces reported to have advanced west of the Danube near Komarom and driven toward the city of Budapest, claiming control of about 3,300 of Buda pest's 4,500 blocks. Russian gains include eastern suburbs and thousands of prisoners as German relief efforts falter to the west.
Deer Lodge physician Dr Frank L. Unmack was elected potentate of Bagdad temple Shrine at the annual Shrine meeting held Wednesday night at the Masonic temple. New officers include chief rabban Charles DesChene of Butte and other elected and appointive officers from Butte Great Falls Dillon and Hamilton.
Olympia Washington January 10 Democratic Gov Wallgren appoints Hugh B Mitchell 37 former newsman and secretary to fill out the unexpired U.S. Senate term expiring 1946 Mitchell will depart by train to Washington tonight and plans to seek re election.
