Rescued miners unharmed after tunnel cave-in in California
Twenty men trapped 800 feet underground in the Mitchell tunnel of the Hetch Hetchy system for 25 hours were brought to the surface uninjured though weak. Welby Morgan, mud covered and battered, rescued the crew by diving through debris and pulling a 20 foot air pipe to safety as others freed the imprisoned workers.

Man 13 Held For Explosion Endangering Sleepers
Frank Maki, 40, told officers he tossed a dynamite bomb into Arthur Villa’s bedroom at 441 East Bronway to scare him. Six residents, including a 12-year-old and two-year-old, were shaken and injured as the blast tore a hole in the floor at about 4 15 AM. Wiita had left his room before the explosion and the building sustained heavy damage. The six remain hospitalized or recovering.

Trade Wind crosses Atlantic from Bermuda to Azores
Mrs Beryl Hart and Lieut William McLaren flew the Bellance monoplane Trade Wind from Bermuda to The Azores carrying over three tons of load including 300 gallons of gasoline and 250 pounds of cargo.
