William M. Butler, 96, longtime Butte resident and former Anaconda Copper pumpman born January 5, 1865 in Boston, was honored by family, hospital staff, and friends at St. James Community Hospital. He has been hospitalized since 1958 after Nellie Butler’s death two years earlier.

Man Run Down Killed by His Own Auto
In Shelby a 65 year old carpenter, Anton Schumacher, died when his car rolled down a steep driveway after he parked it. He walked toward the house and the vehicle, with brake possibly not set, struck him and carried him into the street. He suffered a broken neck and multiple fractures. Authorities were unsure if death occurred on impact or after the car stopped in the street. If death occurred in the street, he would be Montana's second 1961 fatality thus far.
