Mrs. Julia M Range a well known former Butte resident died Wednesday in Rolla Missouri at the home of her son in law and daughter Dr and Mrs Curtis Wilson Dr Wilson formerly professor of metallurgy at Montana School of Mines in Butte for 13 years is president of Missouri School of Mines at Rolla Mrs Range a native of Benson Minnesota lived in Butte about 40 years before leaving with her son in law and daughter seven years ago She was a member of Mountain View church Survivors include a brother Ingwald Pederson Hillsboro North Dakota a granddaughter Miss Virginia Wilson Rolla a brother in law and sister in law Mr and Mrs Allen Range Butte and several nephews and nieces The body will arrive in Butte Saturday morning and will be removed to Whites funeral home.

BILLINGS January 7 The Northwest Commercial Livestock Industry posted higher prices for cattle hogs and sheep in 1947 based on Western Livestock Reporter figures Prices rose across the board with sheep up from 10 33 to 15 33 per hundredweight grass fed cattle from 15 35 to 21 94 and grain fed cattle from 16 78 to 20 65 hogs from 19 18 to 24 25 Reflecting overall gains of about 24 percent for cattle and roughly 21 percent for hogs The report highlights a year of rising market values.

The Flodin Lumber Co of Plains submitted the high bid of 12.05 per thousand feet for 1 830 000 feet of yellow pine and 8.05 per thousand for 4 930 000 feet of fir and larch in the first 1948 sale. State Forester Parker called the total bid 61846 dollars and noted fir and larch price was unusually high and second highest on pine record. The timber lies 21 miles north of the Thompson river west of Plains near Flodin's mill.

Sleeping Tablets Bring Death in Columbia Falls
Lee Howard Abel, 62, a resident of the Old Soldiers Home, was found dead in a Columbia Falls hotel from an overdose of sleeping tablets. Coroner Harry Campbell and Sheriff Richard Walsh said he had gone to town to see a doctor and died of a heart attack after the overdose. Abel moved from Livingston to the home in 1945. Billings Murder Trial Set for Monday
John H. Emery faces first degree murder charges in the Easter Sunday slaying of Clyde Kipp, a 47 year old Billings trucker, at a crowded tavern.
