Man Lived in Garage Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

George W. Thomas, 21, was sentenced by Judge James D. Freebourn after pleading guilty to first degree burglary. He lived in a garaged car near 720 S Montana and was arrested December 28 with over $1,000 in merchandise seized. He faces parole after three months, and authorities tie him to about a dozen burglaries.

20 Quakes Hit Butte Area Seismograph Reports Main Shock

The Montana School of Mines seismograph logged 20 shocks in Southwestern Montana from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday. The strongest quake, location 90 miles south southeast of Butte, occurred at 7:01:44 p.m. Tuesday with intensity 5.25, compared with 5.80 for a tremor last October.
