Canadian tanks and infantry struck near Italy's east coast driving German forces from a Senio river bridgehead near Cotignola and Sant Albero. British 56th Division led the attack with RAF Spitfires and US Thunderbolts aiding as 500 prisoners were taken and lines pushed to the east bank of the Senio.
