DeFrance firearm conviction overturned by appeals court

A9th Circuit unanimously overturned Michael B. DeFrance's firearm possession conviction, ruling the 2013 domestic assault conviction against Jermain Charlo did not by itself place him under federal firearms ban. He will be resentenced on remaining 2023 convictions in Missoula federal court. The ruling also affects Montana domestic violence law and firearms eligibility.

Montana manufacturing wages rise nearly eight thousand in year

Montana's manufacturing sector saw average wages climb about $8,000 over the past year, per the 2024 Montana Manufacturing Report by MMEC and the University of Montana.
