Six states and three Canadian provinces will be represented at a two day meeting of the Pacific Northwest Tourist association to begin January 14 at the Finlen hotel. About 150 visitors are expected with leaders from Montana North Dakota South Dakota Idaho Washington and Oregon. Representatives will also come from Alberta Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Kimmel Held Responsible for Pacific Fleet Movements
Washington January 5 Admiral Harold R Stark told a Senate committee he left all responsibility for Pacific Fleet movements to Admiral Husband E Kimmel after ordering a defensive deployment on November 27 1941. Stark said he did not check Kimmels execution of the order, stating in the Navy way an officer gives an order and expects a subordinate to carry it out. He maintained Kimmel had adequate information to be on guard when Japan struck December 7 1941.
