Franklin D Roosevelt Jr, Harvard student and son of the president, pleaded guilty to speeding 70 mph on a Connecticut highway. He appeared in Orange before Judge Robert J Woodruff, without an attorney, and was fined ten dollars after his postponement request was granted by his mother.
A caravan of trucks and autos speeding from the United States into Mexico with 120 machine guns and ammunition for revolutionary plotters was hunted by officers on both sides of the border. Guards were doubled on both sides as detectives pursued leads including a Los Angeles warehouse claim and arrests in Los Angeles. Reports from Vera Cruz and Jalapa described related disturbances in Mexico.
