James Ronco, an Army infantry trainee, was slightly wounded by a .22 rifle on a rabbit hunting furlough near Meaderville. The bullet hit his right foot. he was treated at St James hospital and released home. His furlough extension was granted as he nears Fort Ord, California. He trained previously in Mississippi.

Wounded Butte Man Rescued from Romania
Keith H. Snider nineteen year old Butte gunner was shot down over enemy territory, captured, and rescued within two weeks. He is now a convalescent patient in Santa Ana after a 30 day furlough with his parents in Sinclair Wyoming. Snider had been overseas about three months on a B 24 Liberator and was listed missing in action Aug. 18 over the Ploesti oil fields.
