Prison Escapee Nabbed After New Year Flight
A Montana State Prison escapee, Robert F. Mumaugh, was captured near Silver Bow after a three hour escape. Deputy Walter Stocker and Larry Connors plus Highway Patrolman Al Boehme stopped him on a eastbound freight at 8:48 p.m. Mumaugh had hidden in a feed barn before boarding the train at about 6 p.m. He is jailed for prison authorities.

The first baby of 1955 born at St. James Hospital arrived at 2:23 a.m. Saturday to Mr. and Mrs. William Hibbs of Anaconda. The infant is premature and reported in not too good condition. St. James also welcomed two other New Year’s Day babies: a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. John Magnus of Twin Bridges at 4:20 a.m. and a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Robin Redd of Anaconda at 421 E Third Street.
