Blaze Sweeps Rest Home in Montana Death Toll Rises

A severe fire at a Musselshell County rest home in Montana killed three residents John Ussin Chester Sanner and Joe Haley and left others escaping by a narrow margin. Fire officials say two victims suffocated while a third died from a panic jump. The blaze began after 8 30 p m and quickly consumed the building up to the third floor as firefighters evacuated twelve patients to safety.

Wreck injures Jack Emerys and children near Manhattan

A New Year’s Eve head-on crash on U S Highway 10 near Manhattan injured six people and hospitalized three, including Jack Emerys and three of his children. The Mierhoffer siblings, Gary and another passenger, were also involved. two Emery children escaped injuries. The collision occurred across from Barnes Galatana Auto Courts and sent the injured to Bozeman hospitals.

Thief Reported Adopting Checks and Cashier’s Checks

A theft occurred in Wyoming where a thief took checks and cashier’s checks totaling about a thousand dollars. The items were described as including a briefcase of checks. the incident happened around 2 am while the suspect was driving. Clyde Walstead reported one owner’s loss.

Butte Trio Hurt In Car Plunge Near Embankment

A Butte boy is listed in critical condition at St James Hospital after a car plunged over a foot embankment about 20 miles east of Butte Sunday night. The Estabrook boy, son of Mr and Mrs Hanford H Estabrook, was in the vehicle which bounced over rough terrain and struck a rock, stopping near a creek bed.

Iraq vows to liberate Kuwait despite British moves

Premier Kassem says Kuwait is part of Iraq and pledges to liberate it as part of the July revolution mission. Montana Airman Killed in Wreck

Drummond born 23 year old Airman 2 C William Edgar Kingrey died in a head on collision in Mount Clemens Michigan with a female companion. He was stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base near Mount Clemens and his body will be sent to Philipsburg for burial. He joined the Army at 17 served in Korea and re enlisted in the Air Force in 1959.

Lebanon Revolt Crushed by Chehab Forces

In Beirut the revolt by right wing officers and civilians was quickly crushed by President Faud Chehab's troops and police. Reports say six rebels were killed and 50 arrested while 40 soldiers were deceived into joining. The radio linked the participants to the Nationalist Greater Syria Party with cross border ties.

Helena Burglary Suspects Apprehended By Police

Three parolees from Deer Lodge state prison were captured after a break in on Last Chance Gulch. One man was arrested inside the building, another in a car nearby, and the third at a West Side home. All were held in Helena City Jail and questioned for other crimes, with two wanted for further inquiries.
