Judy Morstein 19 of Butte will participate in the World and International skating championships in Tokyo and take a Montana flag presented by Gov. Tim Babcock. She and Sylvia White 19 earned berths last weekend on the Women's Olympic skating team tryout squad.
Governor Tim Babcock resubmitted the nomination of Dr. W. Gustafson to the State Board of Education and said he expects Senate confirmation. He warned the conservative Democrat may face opposition from Democratic lawmakers as the vote nears.
In Helena UPI report Democrats denounced Gov. Tim Babcock’s pick of Dr. Raymond W. Gustafson for the State Board of Education. Senator Cotton criticized the nomination while Senator McKeon pledged to oppose it amid opposition letters. Republicans largely backed Gustafson as qualified.
Rep James P Lucas guided Gov Tim Babcocks medical care proposal for the aged indigent through House debate setting a 400000 price tag. He noted a 140000 welfare surplus by July 1 making total 260000 in the coming biennium while asserting the bill would meet a need without federal aid.
President Kennedy sent Congress a health program with top priority for the Medicare proposal under Social Security. He urged enactment this year and outlined costs and extensions for health facilities, nursing homes, pollution control, and research. The plan includes a five year Hill Burton extension and funding for hospitals nursing homes and nursing education.
Fourteen planes from Montana and Wyoming searched without success for a Cessna 150 missing after leaving Hardin Wednesday bound for Sheridan. The aircraft carried Bill Baldwin 32 and Don Warden 24 both from Hardin. Searchers said clues faded and the area was widened.
Walkerville reaches out of court settlement with Anaconda Co for 14000 plus duties. The city sought 57818.55 in damages from Alice Pit work affecting streets and sewers. Agreement includes road gives and playground site transfers and immediate fencing of pit area streets.

Democrats in Helena introduced a six member bipartisan sub committee to study how welfare costs should be shared among counties. The resolution seeks statutory and constitutional amendments if needed and would report findings to the 1965 Legislature. It urges distribution based on each county contribution to state wealth rather than property values, citing Silver Bow Cascade and Mineral counties as examples of wealth and resources.
More than 200 reservations are in for the Holmes Alexander dinner at Finlen Hotel Tuesday night with over 300 expected. Alexander, a renowned columnist, appears under Silver Bow County Republican Central Committee auspices, dinner set for 6 30.
