Cornered Axis Army in Libya Loses 42 Tanks

Cairo reports the Axis forces in Libya suffered 42 tanks lost in a retreating bid against growing British pressure near Agedabia and along the Gulf of Sirte. A British communique says 22 enemy tanks were knocked out and 20 damaged, as a Hussars regiment captured five truckloads of German infantry.

Butte registrants over 28 years old in Class 1-H have been reassigned to other groups. Boards gain material for 1-A and 1-B. 2-A and 2-B remain tighter, allowing only workers essential to defense for up to six months. Prior to war, classifications were permanent. Some 28 year olds in 1-H have no dependents and are seen as good soldier prospects. others are fit for limited service in 1-B.

Widely Known Anaconda Attorney Hiram W. Rodgers Dies

Hiram W. Rodgers, a pioneer Montana attorney long associated with the Anaconda Copper Mining Co, died at 76 in his Montana hotel apartment. He practiced in Anaconda about 45 years, with notices of illness in recent days and the death discovered by hotel manager Wilbur Davis.
