Sugar Beet Yield Sets New Regional Record at ATSSOULA

ATSSOULA December 204 Monarch territory fields feeding the American Crystal Sugar plant yielded a record 14.06 tons per acre, said manager Frank A. Cleland. The 13.8 tons per acre previous mark was in 1940. Growth attributed to better farming methods and longer growing season. Second grower payment will be mailed after final sugar content is clarified, likely next month. Beet slicing ended Saturday and the last batch processed late Sunday.

Loot Recovered From Garages After Be sburglaries

Loot valued about 6000 dollars from Drummond and Alberton garages and service stations last week was recovered in Missoula. A 28yearold suspect was arrested after a resident reported a peeping Tom. Police say the burglary included radios tires sleeping bags cameras guns and office equipment. The suspect was to be taken to Philipsburg for further charges.

MISSOULA Dec 23 An additional 86382 acres along the Clark Fork Flathead and Koote nai rivers from here to Monians western boundary could be irrigated by pumping plants the Bonneville Power Administration reports in a survey The area now has 342000 acres under irrigation In addition to 35352 acres some 8500 acres in the Flathead valley might be sprinkler irrigated In the surveyed area 18371 acres could be served by open ditches the rest by sprinkler irrigation.

Larceny Charges Filed in Livestock Theft

Dillon Des Moines area dispatch reports complaints filed in justice court by County Attorney W. G. In Missoula on December 28 a man robbed a service station of 163 in currency after forcing attendant Bartell to fill a paper sack with money and directing him to walk several blocks before allowed to return. Isabelle Ryan Summoned in Anaconda Death Notice

Isabelle Ryan of Anaconda died at 6 15 Sunday night at the family home 410 Alder after a prolonged illness. Wife of Michael Ryan, born Livingston, she moved to Anaconda in 1846 and lived there forty years. She was a member of St Peter church and the League of the Sacred Heart. Surviving are her husband, three sons and their wives, two daughters and their husbands, three sisters, six grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces, all of Anaconda or Livingston.
