Montana jingle winner plans farm and home upgrades
A 26 year old farmer's wife from Ignatius Montana won 25000 in a radio jingle contest. She and her husband will invest most of the prize in the farm and remodel their six room house. The winner learned of the prize from Dennis Day and will receive a 25000 check in Missoula. Her husband usually writes jingles but she authored the winning entry.

John Ashley age 72 was found dead Sunday morning by neighbors in his Ejliston home. Death appears due to natural causes, likely Saturday. He was the last in his divert line, lived in the community since childhood, worked in mining, and his body was taken to Ross mortuary in Deer Lodge. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Mrs. Miller Deer Lodge and Mrs. Day Chicago, plus one nephew Pred Dinnaine of Butte.

Washington reports Attorney General Clark said Laureate HL Duggan told the FBI he was approached twice in the late 1940s by persons seeking his help to join an alleged Communist espionage ring. Duggan gave details to the FBI after questioning on December 10. He denied any link to the prewar Red spy ring and provided leads about the two individuals. The FBI is investigating, with public figures named by Drew Pearson in a radio broadcast as possible suspects.
