Tom Alley’s Wife Charged in Escape Attempt

Dolly Alley 20 wife of escape artist Tom Alley was charged as an accomplice after a break for freedom at the State Prison in Deer Lodge. She was arraigned before Justice James Kochel and held on 2500 bond for district court. Carl Davis county attorney filed the charge under the statute on assisting a prisoner in escape. Alley was subdued after pulling a gun that misfired as deputies escorted him to prison to begin a 25 year sentence for armed robbery.

A Leslie Lind Butte Merchant Dies After Illness

A. Leslie Lind of 101 S. Crystal Butte merchant and Army Engineers veteran dies Tuesday in Fort Harrison VA hospital after a long illness. He studied at Montana School of Mines and worked as a mining engineer before WWI. He belonged to several fraternal and veteran groups and is survived by multiple relatives in Butte Chicago Winnetka and other cities.

Small Aircraft Crash Fatal to Bitter Root Trip

Three people died when two small planes collided in midair four miles southwest of Hamilton Montana. Victims were Robert Ryman and Donna Lou Ryman of Hamilton and Norman C Ray a 45 year old well driller from Avantsdale. Authorities described a head on collision around 1000 feet. Michael J. Lacey a native of Crested Butte Colorado and longtime Butte resident died Tuesday after a brief illness. He worked as a miner and engineer at Kelley Mine and was active in Butte Miners Union No 1 the Stationary Engineers Union and civic affairs. Youth Caught Here Gets 15-Year Term

Seventeen year old Robert Eugene Dahl was sentenced to 15 years in State Prison at hard labor after pleading guilty to abducting St. Regis first grade teacher Miss Joan Solberg. The case involved a nighttime car ride, a gunpoint abduction, and a statewide manhunt ending southeast of Butte near the old Nine-Mile Inn.
