US troops end Dominican hotel battle near Santiago
A force of 150 U.S. paratroopers helped end a clash between Dominican Army regulars and rebel fighters holed up in a two story hotel. At least 11 people were killed, including rebel Col. Juan Lora Fernandez. U.S. and Brazilian peacekeepers reinforced Santo Domingo to restore order.
