Beloved Butte Resident Delia Mullins Dies at 601 Travonia
Delia Mullins a longtime Butte resident died at her home Friday after several weeks illness. Born in County Leltrin Ireland she came to the United States and settled in Worcester Massachusetts. She was the widow of James Mullins and a devout Catholic member of St Patrick parish. She is survived by two sons a daughter in law two daughters a son in law a sister an aunt and several nieces and cousins. The body is at Daly-Shea mortuary.

Below Zero Alarm Nips False Fire Call In Big Butte
A prankster triggered a false fire alarm in the Big Butte area at 6:30 AM. A responding firefighter braved below zero weather and inspected the area on a windshieldless hull while awaiting a general alarm. No fire was found and the truck returned to the station as the would be rescuer lamented lost sleep.

Newell RF Hill 60 ex commander of the Butte post Veterans of Foreign Wars died Friday night in a local hospital after a brief illness. He lived at 1020 Nevada in Butte for 53 years and was born in Smithfield Utah. He served in WWI three years in the Army with time in France and Germany. He was a past president of the Butte Boilermakers union. Survived by three stepdaughters two stepsons and several relatives. The body at Duggan's Merrill.

Court Jury Favors Film Writer Lester Cole at MGM
A federal court jury in Los Angeles ruled in favor of film writer Lester Cole, reinstating him to his $1,350 weekly MGM job and awarding $71,550 in back salary after a yearlong suspension. Cole and nine others refused to answer questions about Communist ties at a House Un-American Activities hearing. Judge Leon R. Yankwich was to rule Monday on terms of the judgment.
