Montana Toll Grows as Dillon Men Die in Wrecks
The 1963 Montana traffic toll rose to 220 with the death of Frank D. Lee 69 of Billings from December injuries after a collision with Gregorio Zapata 49 of Huntley at the 27th Street and Montana Avenue intersection. In Beaverhead County two Dillon men John C. Naylor 59 and Leroy Franklin 50 died when their car rolled three times off Highway 91 south of Dell. Naylor, driving the car, died from head and neck injuries. Franklin suffered fatal chest injuries. 12 Year Term Given for Rape
Jerry McGivern, 24, pleaded guilty to raping a 16 year old Butte girl and was sentenced to 12 years in State Prison by Dist. Judge T. E. Downey. Police arrested McGivern May 26 and he had pleaded innocent three days later, remaining in county jail on $5,000 bond except for a stay at Warm Springs State Hospital for psychiatric exams. The case involved the alleged beating. Mullany represented McGivern with County Atty. Holland for the state.
