A Florida bound airliner crashed into a riverbank near Elizabeth, New Jersey, killing 56 aboard including 48 adults, two children and two infants. The two pilots and a stewardess died. a watchman was injured. Firefighters recovered bodies as the plane burned after taking off from Newark at 3 02 p m for Tampa.

The cornerstone for the $4,400,000 Butte Community Memorial Hospital was set Sunday during dedication ceremonies. Cornelius F. Kelley of Anaconda Copper Mining placed the first mortar while leaders including Gov. Bonner and Mayor Morgan attended. A copper box with signatures and a Life magazine issue from Dec 4, 1950 was sealed inside.
