Brother of U S attorney general Harry M Daugherty he faced Senate subpoenas and a 58 count indictment for embezzlement and misappropriation. Once a local political leader his social ostracism grew in later years.

Spectacular Air Rescue Mission to Be Attempted

A nine man team from the military air transport service stranded since December seventh atop a 7,600 foot Greenland ice cap near Blue West weather station will be rescued by two ski equipped gliders towed by B 17 and C 52 aircraft. The plan calls for gliders to land then be hoisted via wire to the rescuers. Supplies have been parachuted and the men are in good condition.

VA to reopen Butte office after war veteran aid move

The Veterans Administration plans to reopen its Butte Montana office next week after closing March 31. A contact man will be assigned to assist veterans, with the site resuming service to the Miles City and Stephenville community and surrounding areas. The move aims to reestablish local VA access for veterans awaiting benefits.
