Pickup slides off mountain road killing man and injuring children

A pickup with six occupants slid off Blue Mountain Road near Missoula and tumbled 700 feet down a mountain Saturday. Gerald J. Davis, 35, a state social worker formerly from Missoula, died. Five children were injured. fire crews could not reach the vehicle due to extreme slickness. The crash raises Montana’s 1975 highway fatality toll to 284.
