An Arctic blizzard swept into northeast Montana from Canada bringing heavy snow and subzero winds up to 60 mph. The storm battered Malta Lewistown Jordan Miles City and Nashua with zero visibility in places and ground drifting on the plains. Officials said the worst is over with clearing skies and temperatures near zero to five above for Wednesday.

Philipsburg Car Victims Are Out of Danger
Two seriously hurt victims of a Philipsburg street crash Monday night were reported out of danger. Charles E. Cline, 50, of Philipsburg, escaped broken bones and was said to be doing nicely at St. James Hospital. Arnie Jepson of Anaconda was listed in good condition at St. Ann Hospital with cuts and bruises. Several others were treated but not hospitalized as the car, found with no lights, plowed through a crowd of about 300 under illumination from street lights and a nearby Christmas display.
