In Kalispell a district court jury after more than seven hours found James Todd innocent of involuntary manslaughter in the July 28 traffic death of 14 year old Marvin H Gasadyast. Todd, a 23 year old baker, testified he did not see the youths riding motor bicycles when the crash occurred.

Columbia Falls on December 12 reports J Lundstrom of Columbia Falls was the low bidder on a Hungry Horse dam project to furnish four trucks and a power shovel for landscape and hauling. Lundstrom quoted 89 per eight hour shift for the shovel and operator and 32 per shift for each truck and driver. The Bureau of Reclamation will use the equipment with other bid openings scheduled for insulated wire, 100 fuel oil heaters, dormitory laundry service, poleline hardware, and 1 760 machine bolts on various December dates.

John V Bennett died early Sunday morning at a local hospital in Butte. A Michigan native who settled in Butte as a boy, he spent 30 years as carpenter foreman with Anaconda Copper Mining Company after starting as an apprentice. He celebrated his golden wedding anniversary September 21 with wife and family. He helped organize the Meaderville Volunteer Fire Department and belonged to the Watchman of the World. Surviving include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, three daughters and sons-in-law, many relatives in Butte, and a great grandson. Services will be Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Richards funeral home conducted by Mr. Edward Mitchell. Burial will be Mount Moriah cemetery.

Boy fatally shot by cousin during hunting near Spokane
A Spokane 12 year old boy Perry Seay of 221 East End Ave was killed Sunday when a .32 rifle discharged by his cousin Thomas Frenery 15 while hunting on the southwest outskirts of Spokane. Deputy Prosecutor Hugh Evans said the tragedy occurred almost instantly with the weapon misfiring amid the hunt.
