President Johnson approved a $1.75 billion FB111 program to produce 210 bombers by 1971. McNamara said the B52 and B58 fleets will be retired, with first aircraft becoming operational in 1968 and full readiness by 1971 as Congress may be asked to fund the effort.

Court orders Montana Power to pay claims

A Helena jury awarded 52 Helena Valley residents refunds ranging from 135 to 825 for alleged promised refunds after gas main installations by Montana Power Co. The plaintiffs argued a Montana Power employee, John Larimer, stated refunds. Montana Power denied any refunds and argued costs related to service and installation were not connected. Judge W. W. Lessley presided. two judges recused themselves. Jury vote favored the plaintiffs 11 to 1, with individual judgments set for each claimant.

Unusually Large Meteor Fireball Spotted Over Several States

Astronomers identified a fiery sky object Friday as an unusually large meteor. White hot debris sparked grass and woods fires in Michigan and other states as pieces rained down. Children in Livonia and Warren found metallic fragments while investigators traced sightings from New York to California during the Geminid meteor shower. The Califormia sighting described a green glow with a tail and an explosion fragmenting the object.
