Butte Miners Accept 7-Day Operation Pact With Anaconda

The Butte Miners Union No. 1 votes to switch all mines to seven days a week with six work days and overtime paid by law. No layoffs will occur and an adjustment period of one to two weeks may be needed as the change takes effect. Union to meet with Anaconda officials to speed up production.

Planes Sighted Flying Over West Coast Area

Planes circling over southern California during a blackout were reported by the Fourth Interceptor Command. Army officials described the event as serious and not a test, with limited details released as authorities awaited developments.
