Cordell Hull warned 21 nations in Lima that no doubt should remain about the Americas resisting invasion by any power or coalition. He said mankind faces choose between freedom and serfdom, order or anarchy, progress or retrogression, civilization or barbarism.
Dr David Efron argues Germany Italy and Japan are building actual military capacity in the Americas while pushing influence through schools and other channels. He cites maps documents and Nazi presence in Argentina Uruguay and Chile and warns unity of the democratic nations is essential to avert a war of democracy. The conference also features Thurman Arnold and Hull outlines US defense commitments.

Mrs. Warren Taylor aged 58 and her former husband Joseph Polo were killed on a downtown street in a murder and suicide. Edward Ed Huffer longtime Butte newspaper foreman and union leader died suddenly at home from a heart attack. Born in Illinois he moved to Montana as a youth, worked at the Butte Miner Montana Standard Montana Free Press and Montana Stand ard before joining the Daily Post. Survived by wife Mayme Sullivan Huffer and a brother. no funeral arrangements announced.
