Finnish Americans donate 461 to aid war victims
The Finnish community in Butte sent a 461 dollar bank draft to the General Relief committee for Finland in Duluth Minnesota. Contributions are collected at three local banks as part of a nationwide effort headed by ex President Herbert Hoover. The drive followed Russia's invasion of Finland and began after a church meeting last Sunday.

Chiropractor arrested in Port Arthur kidnaping case
Dr W C Welch a chiropractor is charged with kidnaping in the abduction of 11 year old Irvin Mingle of Port Arthur. Deputies say the boy was taken Thursday night bound gagged and hidden in an attic and freed after noon yesterday. The kidnapper demanded 15000 and warned the family not to tell police.

Four Ships Sunk As Wars At Sea Escalates In December
Four more vessels, two British and two neutral, were destroyed by mines or torpedoes in a week of intensive sea fighting. Britain also captured a German ship as it calls ex-sailors and ex-marines up to 46 for wartime service. The weekly sea toll reached about 400, with four German submarines lost.

Owner Seeks Dog Missing After Two Days Locked in Car
A dog owner reported his pet disappeared after being locked in a California plated coupe on East Second street for two days. Deputies said sympathetic neighborhood boys had opened the window slightly to feed the dog before it escaped when the window was widened. B N Gurgevich 59 prominent leader in Butte Slav colony for 40 years died yesterday at Murray hospital after a 10 day illness. Body at Duggan's Merrill mortuary awaiting funeral arrangements. He came to Butte from Serbia in 1895 and led Slav activities, represented societies at national conventions, and showed outstanding church leadership.
