Grain Elevator Fire Destroys Fort Benton Facility
The Greeley Elevator Co. grain elevator one mile north of Fort Benton burned Tuesday night destroying 45 000 bushels of wheat valued at 72 500 and 10 000 bushels of barley about 6 500 and a new truck. Firefighters kept flames from oil and gasoline tanks 50 yards away containing 40 000 to 50 000 gallons. The blaze started near the top at 8 p m and was seen for 20 miles.
