Denver December 4. Pearl O’Loughlin on trial for murdering her stepdaughter Leona collapsed while testifying for the defense. Her brother John Weisz supported her as she sought to continue. the court recessed to tomorrow.
In Livingston on December 4 Otto Wenalun, 30, bought an automatic pistol and killed his wife Gladys Wenalun, 20, at Alderman Ed M. Sybert’s home, then shot himself. The deaths occurred as Wenalun failed to persuade his wife to return home, with Mrs. Wenalun found near the room where Mrs. Sybert lay dead. The man died several hours later. (Continued on Page 2)
Pete Narich, 42, was found guilty of first degree murder in the stabbing death of Mrs Susie Parker last July. The jury did not fix the punishment, leaving sentence to the court, with sentencing set for Saturday morning alongside Roy Henderson and Henry Tim, who were other murder and narcotics cases.
Six convicts from Matteawan State Hospital fled during a morning escape led by an underdeveloped 21 year old burglar. The group, including an acid killer and the so called mad butcher, escaped in a large automobile and sped southward along Manhattan streets, narrowly avoiding capture.
Four boys out hunting discovered the body of William M. Griffin an Ohio aviator missing ten days in the wreckage of his monoplane in Brocton New York He had left Berea Ohio and Hamilton Ontario for Cleveland on November 24.

Belmonte Italy December 4 Winsih Spooner England’s racing aviatrix and Captain E C T Edwards survived a forced aircraft descent in the Tyrrhenian Sea. After landing two miles from shore they were rescued by fishermen and spent the night at the mayor’s house. Spooner swam the two miles in dark wearing heavy breeches and a woolen shirt.
Wild scenes in the Senate as the Tardieu government is toppled by a 147 to 139 non-confidence vote. France lacks a government for the nineteenth time since World War I. President Doumergue plans talks with leaders, while ministers who resigned keep government functions until a new administration forms, possible only after days.

A proposal to adopt percentage depletion schedules for mine taxation was presented by A P Ramstedt of Wallace Idaho to the American mining congress. It requests consideration by the joint congressional committee on internal taxation with a hearing planned for December 9 and aims for a 33 percent depletion basis modeled on oil and gas taxation.

Father Augustino De Casperii an Italian priest captured yesterday by Chinese communists at Sinkow escaped and arrived in Hankow today. The incident shows a clumsy but successful breakout enabling his safe return to mission work in China.
Rangoon Burma December four reports say a severe earthquake last night and into today left at least 36 dead and casualties feared as most of Burma experienced tremors.

In Butte criminal court Judge J J Lynch drew a special 175 juror panel to finish selecting a jury for the McDevitt murder case after 11 jurors were tentatively chosen. Defense and state each hold five peremptory challenges. the regular panel of 38 was exhausted. McDevitt claims self defense while the state seeks the death penalty.
