Butte Woman, 70, Missing Since Sunday

Police search for Alice Frostick, 70, who vanished from Mrs. E. M. Hier’s home at 508 East Broadway around 3 o’clock Sunday. Four Men Die In Tacoma Dynamite Plant Blast

Four men were killed when a ton of dynamite exploded at the Frederickson plant of the Columbia Powder Company in Tacoma Washington. Police and officials hinted government sabotage and planned a federal investigation. The blast followed another explosion in the Tacoma area five days earlier at a Du Pont mill near Fort Lewis with no fatalities.

Tax payments boost county and city receipts reported

County Treasurer George OBrien Jr and City Treasurer Bernard Holland announced about 768 659 dollars in tax payments received for the installment at offices Monday. Envelopes postmarked by November 30 would add several thousand dollars to the total. County taxes reached roughly 500 000 by Monday noon and municipal taxes 268 659 29 by last evening. Delinquency percentage for the installment was expected to be lower than last year. The Northern Pacific railroad paid 19 318 dollars toward first half receipts, with a similar sum due next May as the 1940 tax balance.

Volunteers for Draft Highlight Local Efforts and Rules

Jarlath W Hamill 23 of the Acoma hotel volunteered for draft board No 3 with his name added to the eligibles list for the next selective service call expected early in January. Two replacements for Silver Bow county have joined the Army at Fort Lewis after acceptance following induction tests.

Rehabilitation Auxiliary Elects Advisory Board in Butte

Representatives from 20 organizations attended the annual meeting of the Butte Auxiliary for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children at the Butte Chamber of Commerce. Dr. F. E. Savage presided as E. M. Sylvester reported a cash balance of 3532 dollars and 33 cents after year expenditures of 2869 dollars 05 cents. Louise Schrupp detailed muscle training results and related humanitarian efforts. Two new advisory board members were elected to replace Mrs. T. J. Walker and the late Charles R. Leonard: Mrs. D. M. Kelly and Leonard Ripper.
