Judge Krueger to retire from Montana District Court in Butte
Judge Kurt Krueger announced Friday he will not seek re election to a fifth term on the Montana District Court bench in Butte, ending a 23 year tenure begun in 2000. He noted his goal of strengthening the judiciary in the Second Judicial District and said he is ready to retire rather than commit to another six years. Krueger built a long career as a trial lawyer before defeating sitting Judge James Purcell in 2000, later securing multiple re elections with strong margins. He also founded the Butte Family Drug Court in 2004 to coordinate services for families.
