Prosecutor Identifies Slayers in Rothstein Case

New York District Attorney Joab Banton said he knows the identities of John Doe and Richard Roe, two men tied to George McManus in a hotel room when Arnold Rothstein was fatally shot. McManus remains held on a murder affidavit. Banton will not reveal the two names. He offered descriptions of the men, noting they had no clear ties to the proceedings.

Butte Elks Tonight Honor Departed Lodge Brothers

Judge condemns wild auto driving in Butte

Police Judge Dan Shea fined Dick Garrish $100 and jailed him 30 days after Garrish, drunk, drove a truck on the wrong side with no lights, colliding with Arthur Whitehead on West Galena Street. Five Die As Plane Crashes Near Spur Texas

Five San Antonio residents were burned to death when a tri motor airplane owned by Matthew Watson crashed six miles north of Spur in Dickens county. Victims include Homer Ballard Watson and Ballard's chauffeur James O’Banion. other dead are Willis Washburn and a Filipino cook named Quinten, plus Watson the pilot. The craft left Winburn Field in San Antonio this morning heading to Tulsa with plans to continue to San Antonio.

Montana treasurers report large mail payments as delinquency period ends. Anaconda company owes about 1.2 million to the state and 290,511.98 already paid in gross metal mines tax. Montana Power county taxes total about 800,000 with 475,000 paid federally. Silver Bow county bills amount to 74,174.27 for Montana Power and Anaconda combined, with total state and county revenue from both firms around 220,277.51.
