Former postmaster and businessman dies at 85 in Missoula
H. E. Parker, 85, longtime Butte postmaster and Western Montana Chevrolet distributor, died Saturday in Missoula after a long illness. Born November 3, 1889, he came to the United States in 1906, worked for Golden Stores, and later for Copper City Store in Anaconda. He moved to Butte in 1921, led the North Butte Mining Co. as president for five years, served 25 years on its board, and held WPA administrator duties in 1936.

Hel icopter rescues Lewistown hermit in rugged valley
Eleonor Fisher a 66 year old hermit living in a remote Judith River breaks cabin was found critically ill and paralyzed with arthritis neighbors on horseback found her and three men helped summon a Malmstrom Air Force Base helicopter. Deputy Westberg guided the rescue by using a red light from a patrol car to reach within a mile of the home. The Lewistown Hospital admitted her Friday night in critical condition.

Police raided about 15 taverns in Butte early Saturday for illegal gambling devices. Officers seized equipment from four bars including the Acoma Main Met Tavern 1375 Harrison and the Club 13 W Broadway. The “tree system” helped notify bars within minutes.
