Washington Nov 30 George N Peek Roosevelt adviser on foreign trade plans a sharp critique of the Canadian reciprocal tariff treaty and is reported to resign from the New Deal official circle. Peek holds three New Deal posts including head of the Import-Export Bank and ex officio member of the National Emergency Council.

Helena Nov 3 Beer consumption in Montana is four percent higher year to date than the same period last year. John J. Jewell, state beer licensing clerk, said barrel taxes and distributors licenses this year brought in $485,308. November receipts totaled $2,477 from beer taxes on 12,860 barrels within the state and 7,616 barrels produced outside. Through the year, beer vendors paid $275,520 in licenses while the per barrel tax has yielded $207,516. The revenue supports the state treasurer’s fund and other allocations.
Helena reports final dates for tax payments. Current year taxes are due by November 30. Delinquent taxes incur penalties and interest with a December 1 deadline. If December 1 falls on a Sunday, payments may be made the following day under general law.
The new relief program claimed a four million dollar success tonight as three and a half million needy workers were reported to be employed on government made jobs. Administrator Harry L. Hopkins said the plan represented all able bodied wage earners on direct relief.
Herbert Harrington aged 20 and Homer Tannehill aged 22, both Bozeman residents, were identified by four visitors as the two youths who robbed the Whitehall State Bank of a sum described as zero dollars Friday afternoon. Joseph Carping Jr., 73, of 46 Atlantic Street, suffers a critical abdomen wound after a rifle discharge from a ranch near Brown's while Hal Gray, 1894 Fayette Street, had died earlier from a similar injury. Carping was treated at the ranch, transferred to St James Hospital, with doctors calling the injury serious.
