Residents of Butte enjoyed a joyous sixtyninth Thanksgiving with large church services and a well attended Clark Park football game. The highlight was new employment for the unemployed as workers in digging clothes filled the south side street.
Ambassador Robert W. Bingham spoke at an American Society gathering in London praising U.S. measures to shield the dollar and criticizing British reliance on a large equalization fund. He described U.S. and British funds as non hostile and noted U.S. response to naval policy under the London treaty, stressing the need for fewer but larger cruisers. About 300 attendees heard the address.

The measure, described as an emergency, will be introduced in the Montana House as the governor’s second supplementary message since the special session began.
At Norman Oklahoma the 17 000 strong crowd for the first football game under bayonet rule saw guards check tickets and enforce limits. Governor Murray placed the stadium under military zones as Oklahoma A M beat Oklahoma 13 to 0 amid orderly holiday weather with one female fight noted. Guards were high school volunteers from Chickasha and did not intervene beyond custody of tickets.
Leonard D. Gilbert a 36 year old Billings salesman died after swallowing poison in a local hotel room. He collapsed before his wife could react and died en route to a hospital. He leaves wife Ruth and three young children. His body will be sent to Billings for burial.
Mayor John F. Dore declared most Seattle residents oppose the city liquor business and said he would veto the council’s ordinance establishing city liquor stores.
The forecast for Montana calls for partly cloudy conditions on Friday and Saturday with slightly warmer temperatures on Friday.
Three suspects, including the victim’s stepson Jess McDonald, were jailed in Miles City after the Powder River county rancher Mose Woosley was shot and burned. McDonald confessed to killing Woosley amid a cattle-removal dispute, with Otto Compton and Dudley French also held on murder and related charges.
A San Francisco Chronicle exchange reveals a widow with three children and no food asking to borrow a wife and children for Thanksgiving. The city editor arranges "a family" to take them out for a proper meal, after the widow explains they have nothing to eat at home.
Thomas S Hogan former Montana official and 1900 fusion governor candidate has been appointed by President Roosevelt as a member of the bituminous coal board for district 5. His headquarters will be in Denver with time in Washington. the district covers New Mexico Colorado Utah Wyoming North Dakota South Dakota Montana Idaho Washington Oregon California Nevada and Arizona.
General Edward M. Markham chief of army engineers toured the Fort Peckham dam project in Glasgow and praised the progress saying no time or money has been wasted. He approved a model town plan for workers and staff and described the dam as the largest war department project in the United States. A country style Thanksgiving dinner was held with Markham and 40 engineers, where he joked about the abundance of food before heading to Portland to inspect Bonneville Dam.
An airplane carrying three aboard crashed near Madison North Carolina on November 30. Spectator James Wall, 60, a dairyman, touched a wire fence after the crash and was fatally electrocuted. Pilot A W Burdette of Leakaville was arrested on charges of operating a plane while intoxicated and manslaughter.
Mrs John Pappa aged 61 died at Cranston Rhode Island tonight after choking while dining on Thanksgiving dinner. She was treated at the scene then transport to a hospital where she succumbed. The incident occurred during the family meal in Cranston.
After a 10 year wait Billings high clashed with Butte in a tense scholastic football game at Clark Park ending in a 7-7 overtime tie. T Novasio sparked Billings with two spinner plays for 17 and 6 yards sealing the outcome. A 5,500 crowd witnessed a hard fought, fast game with dramatic drives and goal line stands.
President Roosevelt at the Warm Springs foundation Thanksgiving dinner teased gold standard critics during an informal talk. He joked about future headlines and joked with magician Julian Boehn and Gus Gennerich while trustees and children patients watched.
