Butte Trucker Narrowly Escapes Death on Muddy Grade
A 30-year-old Butte man, Robert M. Aguirre, narrowly escaped death when his fully loaded log truck skidded on a muddy Elk Park grade, overturned, and was halted by gate poles. He suffered a injured left leg and internal injuries. a 15-year-old companion escaped unharmed. Local authorities and bystanders aided rescue, with Aguirre employed at Mountain Can Mine hauling logs to the Montana Polo Plant in Butte.

Longtime Butte sports figure Herb Bretherton dies
Herb Bretherton 795, a Butte resident for 73 years, died Saturday morning after a long illness. He came to Butte from Canada at age two and remained active in local sports, playing in early 1900s teams, supporting Rotary, and earning Silver B’s and Golden B honors. He was a charter member and historian for the Silver B’s and a Golden B from Butte High. He never missed state tournaments and maintained a near perfect Rotary attendance.

Butte Man 22 Shot Through Stomach Near Death

Havre Woman Dies Of Accident Injuries
Havre Mrs. Harvey Anderson, 21, died in a city hospital from injuries after a 2 car crash in downtown Havre 11 days earlier. The accident raised Montana’s traffic fatality toll to 142. The other occupants were also injured and James J. Hill, 21, Havre, jailed on DUI charges and due in justice court. Mrs. Anderson leaves a widower and a 14 month old son.

The first batch of 15 000 to 20 000 Big Hole cattle begins moving this fall with 700 head from the Hirschy Divide ranch loaded for feeding pens in Greeley Colorado.
