Gas Masks Used To Fight Fire In Vacant House
Butte firemen wearing gas masks battled a blaze at 710 Colorado Street Thursday afternoon. The fire gutted the vacant dwelling but was under control in about 20 minutes. Nearby houses faced danger as flames shifted with the wind and smoke enveloped bystanders including Harry Robinson and another man. Eight regulars and five volunteers fought the blaze, while a second alarm for a brush fire at 804 W. Diamond briefly drew off a pumper. All units returned by 4:30 p.m.

Irene LaSage Sheridan 74 widow of Guy E. Sheridan died in a local hospital Thursday after a long illness. Born in Houghton Michigan March 30 1885 she moved to Butte with her parents and taught in local schools before marriage. She lived at 1012 West Silver and leaves many friends.
