Four War Brides Among Citizenship Oath Group in Butte
In Butte, Friday morning, twelve applicants were admitted to U S citizenship while nine were continued. War brides among the new citizens include Renee Suzanne Rice, Elmone Marie Ferkovich, Veronica Esme Le Brecha, and Philomena Michalsky. Other new citizens came from Italy, Ireland, the Philippines, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, and Canada.

They lived on South Jameson street before leaving in 1931 for Springfield Ohio where they now reside. Harstead was once manager of the Boucher Clothing store on West Park street. They are en route home after a trip to the west coast.

Death Summons John Barton
John Barton former district manager for a Texas company died Thursday evening at his Long Beach California home where he had resided since retirement. Funeral services will be held Monday at Mattel mortuary Long Beach. He was a native of Illinois came to Butte in 1934 served ten years as district manager for the Texas company and was active in local civic affairs. He leaves widow Orva Barton two brothers and other relatives.

Burglar Mulls His Chance at Post Office Safe

Permits Sold Rise Sharply In Butte Office
City treasurer Bernard Holland reported 8070 driving permits sold to date, nearly 2500 more than all of 1947, reflecting more cars in Butte. Permits cost 80 cents and funds fund traffic control as meters added a similar week’s take to the treasury.

Man Who Made Off With Two Locomotives Jailed
Anthony Carrigno of Oakland California was jailed on charges of cutting up two logging engines with an acetylene torch and carting the pieces away presumed for junk. Owner Joseph Harrah reported the locomotives disappeared from a storage yard.
