Forest Service tech freed by bear in Montana encounter
U S Forest Service technician Roger Stang was rescued after a black bear charged as he surveyed timber near Superior Montana. He climbed about 30 feet to escape, injuring forearms and shins. The sow with two cubs appeared earlier and fled when yelled at. The bear circled the tree for about 15 minutes before leaving.
