Mine Rescue Faces Setback As Mon Day Target Looms

In Hazleton Pennsylvania two miners trapped 12 days in a damp chamber 308 feet underground faced a serious setback from technical problems delaying a Monday rescue target. A third miner in a separate cubicle 18 feet away remains unheard since Tuesday.

Girl Playing On Overpass Killed by Car

Roosevelt County Coroner Ly man Clayton said Diane Moran, 11, was killed and her sister Janice Moran, 8, was injured when a car driven by Dr. Clifford M. Mason of Edmonton struck the girls on a railway overpass southeast of Culbertson Montana. An inquest is not planned.

Glass fragments injure Butte boy after Saturday blast

A flying pane injured 3 year old Joe Kougioulis near the blast site. He received two stitches for a head laceration and was treated at Silver Bow General Hospital after glass from a shattered window fell on him while in bed at home.

Blast Breaks Shatter 105 Windows at JHS

Charles Davis city superintendent of schools said the Junior High School Building suffered heavy damage with at least 105 broken windows mainly large plate glass. A glass door at the northeast entrance was shattered and most damage occurred on Garfield Street east side with extensive breaks on Grand Avenue north side and west side. The estimated monetary loss runs into thousands of dollars.
