Fargo Boy 9 Dies After Havre Highway Crash
Keith Brewer of Fargo North Dakota died in Havre hospital from head injuries after a two car collision on U S Highway 2 eleven miles west of Havre. A Polaris missile was ignited under water for the first time in a test off San Clemente Island. The Navy called the underwater ignition highly successful and said no damage to the mother ship would occur if launched from a submarine. The test used an air powered launch tube identical to those on the USS George Washington and followed prior surface launches. The first stage engine was described as the largest solid rocket ever ignited beneath water. The program aims for operational status late this year.
