German Youth Convicted of Espionage Plans
Herbert Karl Friedrich Bahr, a German youth, was found guilty by a Federal Court jury of conspiring with the gestapo to spy in the United States. Sentencing is set for September 2, with possible death, after a two hour deliberation. Bahr appeared expressionless as jurors declared him guilty. His wife Ruth Bahr wept in the spectator row. Defense urged jurors to judge him as a son, not a German. Bahr recently returned to the U.S. aboard the Drottningholm.

Martin P. Moe of Helena was elected district governor for 1943 of the Montana district of Kiwanis International at the closing session of the twenty second annual convention held in the Montana Power company auditorium. Moe, executive secretary of the Montana Educational association, has lived in Helena 14 years and previously served as Helena Kiwanis president in 1935 and district secretary under five governors. Two Escape Death in Truck Crash Near Meaderville
Two men Harold Chase and John Wilson narrowly escaped death when a gasoline tanker owned by Johnson Trucking of Shelby blew a tire and crashed into a bank two miles east of Meaderville on the Butte Helena highway. They jumped from the cab as the vehicle veered toward a 300 foot embankment. Both suffered cuts and bruises and were taken to Murray hospital in fair condition. The tanker lost over 1 300 gallons of gasoline from a punctured bottom compartment. two pump trucks started transferring fuel.
