Fourteen die as airliner is attacked by Japanese forces
An airliner carrying Chinese American passengers was attacked near the south China coast. Thirteenth Forest Fire Spoils Deer Lodge Record
Officials in the Deer Lodge National Forest reported the thirteenth forest fire of the season. A motorist discarded a cigarette along the highway in the Moose Lake region, starting a small grass and tree blaze. Ranger response contained the fire to about 12 square feet with minimal damage.
