Nixon delays Vietnam troop withdrawal decision

President Nixon postponed until early September a final ruling on further Vietnam troop withdrawals to allow more information on enemy activity seen in August and possible future infiltrations. White House spokesman Ziegler said the decision, originally due by late August, may be announced after Nixon returns to Washington around September 6th to 8th.

Investigators probe the Saturday explosion that killed 60 year old Raymond E. Si Perkins in Opportunity. A coroner jury was impaneled to inspect the scene as deputies report the device used was a professional bomb and no new clues have emerged.

Gas tax boost in Montana questioned by lawmakers

Montana’s 1969 legislature raised the gasoline tax by half a cent, but the official pocket supplement later shows the act repealed. Section 84-1801.1 is listed as repealed, with Section 1 of Chapter 355 noting the proposed seven cent rate for 1969 71 was not enacted. He swam on the YMCA team wrestled three years and served as track manager and baseball player. He spent months in hospital and wore braces before an artificial leg.
